A Little Update

Some may be wondering where I am. I think my wheels are spinning and like my knitting, my life has been "tinking" or knitting backwards. If not in reverse, at least put on hold. You see I had oodles of time yesterday where I had nothing to do but wait and, of course, took my knitting with me. What a wonderful opportunity to knit and not feel guilty! I had nothing to do. But by the time I came home I realized my project had not progressed even though I knit for hours. When you make a mistake in knitting it is sometimes better to knit backwards and take the stitches out one at a time. If you don't and just rip it out by pulling free all the needles you can lose the pattern and then are in a big mess. So "I tinked" But the problem loomed large and I did eventually pull the needles out and just ripped.
Some may understand the metaphor and how it applies to our lives here. If not, forgive me for not explaining. Let's just say things can only get better.

I agree...going back stitch by stitch may be the thing to do when your "Mistake" is only a few rows back. In frustration, I pull the needles out then worry about getting them back on at a place where I can realistically pick up the pattern. That's why it is easy to do on a fisherman knit because the changes are all on one row.

I still smirk when I think back to my Mom sitting knitting in the evenings at home and she would be truckin' along and then all of a sudden "oh shoot" and she'd start pulling out stiches and pretty soon she have to start rollin' back up what she was pullin' out. My Dad thought she was crazy! ;) He'd say "all that work for one missed stitch"? Obviously he never wore these beautiful items Ü

When I was in dressmaking school my teacher held up a seam-ripper and announced "if this is not your favorite tool by the end of classes, you'll never be a decent sewer." In other words; if you accept less-than-perfect work from yourself, that's all you'll ever get.

I'm praying that the Lord will encourage you in this hard time. He knows and understands your frustrations and secret struggles, knitting and otherwise. "All things work together for good..." You are not a failure if your life is "hid with Christ in God." He will turn your "knitting" into a beautiful work of His own, and He will do it for the praise of His glory.
